POLISHED CONCRETE
Polished Concrete Northland transforms new and existing concrete into refined, purposeful surfaces. Through carefully specified stages of diamond grinding, progressive polishing and specialised treatments, each floor is developed to enhance the natural character, performance and durability of the concrete.
Every project is considered individually, allowing aggregate exposure, surface refinement, sheen and investment to be tailored to the space and its intended use.
GRIND AND SEAL
Grind and Seal is a versatile finish suited to interior and exterior concrete in both residential and commercial settings.
The surface is mechanically ground to achieve the selected degree of aggregate exposure, ranging from subtle and random through to full exposure. Progressively finer diamond tooling is then used to refine the surface and remove the visible grinding pattern in preparation for sealing.
For interior floors, grouting forms part of the refinement process, filling small surface imperfections and air voids to create a smoother, more uniform appearance.
For exterior areas—including driveways, pathways, terraces and porches—a considered range of penetrating and topical sealers is available. Acid etching is our preferred method of introducing surface texture to help improve traction.
Once the grinding and preparation stages are complete, the surface is finished with the selected sealer system.
HONED CONCRETE
Honed concrete offers a refined matte finish for exterior areas such as low-gradient driveways, pathways, terraces, porches and pool surrounds.
A penetrating sealer is absorbed into the concrete rather than forming a coating on the surface. This preserves the natural appearance of the concrete while providing protection against staining and avoiding the visible scratching and wear associated with a topical coating.
CONCRETE GRINDING & SURFACE PREPARATION
Concrete grinding is a precise mechanical process used to improve the condition of a concrete substrate by removing surface irregularities, contaminants, coatings and loose or weakened material.
Where appropriate, controlled grinding can reduce the extent of levelling required and provide a properly prepared surface for the flooring system that follows. Polished Concrete Northland provides tailored concrete grinding and surface-preparation solutions throughout Northland.
Concrete grinding can be used to:
- Prepare concrete for resurfacing or a new flooring system
- Reduce isolated high points and surface irregularities
- Address rain-damaged concrete
- Remove paint, levelling compounds and existing coatings
- Remove adhesive residue left by carpet or tiles
CLEAN AND SEAL
Clean and Seal offers a considered, cost-effective solution for workshops, larger sheds and garages.
Depending on the environment and desired appearance, a range of sealer systems can be discussed and selected to suit the individual requirements of the floor. Diamond-cleaned and sealed concrete provides an easy-care, low-maintenance surface with improved resistance to staining and a cleaner, more refined appearance.
